Webber wants new Red Bull contract

May 10 (GMM) Australian driver Mark Webber on Saturday said he would like to stay at Red Bull Racing in 2009.

After qualifying sixth at the Istanbul Park circuit, the 31-year-old told reporters he has now opened talks with the team's chiefs about renewing his contract, which is set to expire at the end of this season.

"We are talking now. I am free next year but I am massively keen to stay here," Webber admitted.

Webber, who has scored all of Red Bull's eight points so far in 2008, joined the team last year.

The Milton-Keynes based outfit is his fourth formula one employer, following his debut with Minardi in 2002 and subsequent stints at Jaguar and Williams.

"What I love about this team is that I am employed to drive the car," said Webber, whose teammate this year is the veteran Scot David Coulthard.

"If I have to do a contract day or a PR day, I ride a jet ski instead of going to talk to people that don't want to see me and I don't want to see them. That's great."

Despite feeling comfortable at the squad owned by energy drink mogul Dietrich Mateschitz, however, Webber insists he is still "massively motivated" to perform.

"But when you are getting smoked down at the back every week and it's tough, I'd rather be riding my mountain bike with my dog," he added.
