Jul.23 (GMM) The BMW-Sauber mechanic who received an electric shock during Jerez testing on Tuesday spent the night in a local hospital, it has emerged.

As the Spanish group test kicked off, the mechanic went to push back Christian Klien's KERS-equipped 2007 car when he was thrown to the ground.

He received treatment in the on-site medical centre for an injured hand and grazing, and it was confirmed he then returned to the German squad's test team.

But it subsequently emerged he was taken to hospital when he later complained about dizziness. The news was confirmed on Wednesday by a spokesman for the team.

He said hospital tests showed no serious problems, but some further tests will be conducted today.

At Jerez on Wednesday, Test driver Klien is at the wheel of a conventional 2008 BMW-Sauber car.
