- Alonso has returned to the team with whom he won two world titles in 2005 and 2006 before his ill-starred switch to McLaren saw him outshone by Lewis Hamilton. - One of the most famous names in the history of the sport with his father having won three world titles, so no pressure then! Piquet was a contemporary of Lewis Hamilton in the GP2 series, the supporting championship for F1. Tested for Renault in 2006 and 2007 and has replaced Heikki Kovalainen who has taken Alonso´s drive at McLaren.

- Trulli´s sole win in Monaco in 2004 seems a long way in the past as that year with Renault, which promised so much, collapsed with a major fall-out with team boss Flavio Briatore. - Touted as a world champion-in-waiting when he made his debut for Williams as a 20-year-old in 2000 but his first, and so far only, win came six years later in Hungary.
