Mar.4 (GMM) The owners of the Silverstone circuit on Tuesday released images of the proposed redevelopment of the British grand prix venue's pit and paddock complex.

The computer generated images depict the futuristic scene of the new start and finish area, pit garages and media centre, which would be located between the Club and Abbey corners, rather than Woodcote and Copse, the current turn one.

Silverstone's new layout, designed by Wembley stadium architects HOK and the first stage in a ten-year plan, would also include the reconfiguration of the Club and Abbey sections, the British Racing Drivers' Club said.

"It should go without saying by now, that in order to retain the British grand prix we need a venue of this kind of stature, and the grand prix is a key element in the whole project," BRDC president Damon Hill said.

The plans will be discussed at a full local council meeting later this month.
