Jan.10 (GMM) Spanish rookie Roldan Rodriguez says he will not race for Force India in 2008 because Giancarlo Fisichella has landed the job.

The GP2 driver, who actually signed a contract for this year with the team's predecessor Spyker late in 2007, told the news agency EFE that he is disappointed team co-owner Vijay Mallya ultimately opted for experience over youth.

"The team has invested in the past and in experience," the 23-year-old, who has tested for Force India among several contenders this winter, said.

"I respect the decision, but from my point of view the future of formula one is the younger generation," Rodriguez added.

Fisichella, a veteran of nearly 200 grands prix who turns 35 next week, lost his Renault drive at the end of 2007.

Rodriguez said: "Certainly, when Fisichella was unemployed and expressed his desire to go to Force India, things became complicated for me."

He vowed not to let the setback affect him, and said he prefers to stay in the GP2 category this year rather than accept the job as Force India's tester.

"I am 23 years old, one door has closed but some others can open," Rodriguez said.

"Nothing is certain yet but we are talking about some things. What is clear is that I want to race, not just be a test driver.

"A situation like that can be good for drivers like Klien or Liuzzi, where being in GP2 would be a step backwards. But that is not the case for me," he insisted.
