BARCELONA, Spain, Feb 19, 2008 (AFP) - Germany´s Nico Rosberg was the fastest driver on the opening day of testing Tuesday at the Catalunya de Montmelo circuit near Barcelona which saw many teams limit their running due to damp weather.

Rosberg finsihed ahead of his rivals with a best time of 1:30.675 minutes, ahead of his Williams teammate Kazuki Nakajima of Japan who came in second.

Spain´s two-time world champion Fernando Alonso of Renault scored a best time of 1:32.820 minutes for a fourth-place finish.
