BUDAPEST, Aug 1, 2008 (AFP) - Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen dominated Friday´s opening practice for Sunday´s Hungarian Grand Prix with fast performances that proved Ferrari remain intent on delivering a world championship comeback this weekend
Brazilian Massa wound up quickest ahead of his team-mate defending drivers world champion Finn Raikkonen, with compatriot Heikki Kovalainen third for McLaren Mercedes.
Drivers championship leading Briton Lewis Hamilton, who is seeking to complete a hat-trick of successive victories in Sunday´s race, was fourth in the second McLaren.
Hamilton holds a four-points lead over his Massa in this year´s title race.
Two-times champion Spaniard Fernando Alonso was the best of the rest for Renault at the end of a quiet and largely uneventful session on the dusty and rarely-used Hungaroring circuit north of Budapest.
Behind fifth-placed Alonso, German Timo Glock took an eye-catching sixth for Toyota, having been as high as second earlier in the session.
BMW Sauber´s Pole Robert Kubica and German Nick Heidfeld claimed seventh and ninth, sandwiching Alonso´s Renault team-mate Nelson Piquet. Italian Jarno Trulli completed the top ten for Toyota.
