Apr.28 (GMM) Contrary to earlier reports, Heikki Kovalainen will leave hospital later on Monday, his formula one team McLaren confirmed.

The 26-year-old Finn spent the night in the Hospital General de Catalunya with concussion following his 240kmh crash during the Spanish grand prix near Barcelona on Sunday.

It was expected that he would have to spend a second night in hospital, but McLaren reports that further tests and scans conducted on Monday morning "showed no problems".

"Consequently Heikki will be released from hospital later today," a statement read.

Kovalainen, who will stay in Spain for a few days before returning home to start light training, said the only effects from his 27G shunt were a headache and a stiff neck.

"Apart from that I am feeling well and in good spirits," he said, explaining that he has no memory of the accident or the aftermath.

"My focus is on getting better as soon as possible so I can pass the FIA medical inspection required to allow me to race in Turkey," Kovalainen added.
