Button vows to calm Coulthard rift

Apr.25 (GMM) Jenson Button has vowed to clear the air with British compatriot and friend David Coulthard after their falling out over a collision in the recent Bahrain grand prix.

Scot Coulthard, who drives for Red Bull, hit out at Honda's Button for blaming him for their coming together at Sakhir to the media, but later apologising over the phone for messing up the overtaking move.

"I'll talk to him and clear the air," Button, 28, is quoted as saying at Barcelona by PA Sport.

He explained his initial comments about the Bahrain crash as the result of "adrenaline pumping" immediately after getting out of his car.

"But the basic views were the same -- he went out and came back to block when I didn't expect him to," Button said.

"It's in the past now. We can get over something like that. We've been racing for years together."

Button agrees with Coulthard that the veteran Scot should not be portrayed by the press as a 'crasher', despite another recent collision this season with Felipe Massa.

"It was just one of those things, it's happened so let's put it behind us and carry on," he explained.
