Ferrari shelve radical nose for Bahrain

Apr.2 (GMM) Ferrari has reportedly called off its plan to debut a radical innovation at the Bahrain grand prix this weekend.

It emerged recently that the Italian team intended to use the innovation - effectively an opening in the upper front of the F2008's nose - for the first time in either Bahrain, or the subsequent Spanish grand prix later in April.

The nose, apparently with the hole cutting through where the Bridgestone 'B' logo is currently located, was tested by Marc Gene at the Vairano circuit last week, Motorsport Aktuell said.

But the Swiss publication claims that team boss Stefano Domenicali ultimately decided that ensuring better reliability, and also introducing some other aerodynamic updates that will debut in Bahrain, were higher priorities at present.

Technical director Aldo Costa said: "The plan for this year is that we should have continuous updates throughout the season.

"We aim to improve the package step by step with changes coming for almost every race," he added.
