BARCELONA, Spain, April 16, 2008 (AFP) - Fernando Alonso´s Renault was the fastest in Formula One testing at the Montmelo circuit near here on Wednesday.

The 2005 and 2006 champion, using slick tyres to be in use for the 2009 season, clocked a best lap of 1min 18.483sec, far ahead of the Ferrari driven by Michael Schumacher (1:19.323).
