Jul.11 (GMM) The list of possible replacements for Spyker's dumped Christijan Albers is growing.
While test drivers Narain Karthikeyan (Williams) and Christian Klien (Honda) are in pole position, there are a number of others who have compiled comparable budgets for the pay-seat.
Spyker's decision is due by the end of the week.
Rumours suggest that the Silverstone based team's German reserve driver Markus Winkelhock could be granted a one-off drive for his home race at the Nurburgring next weekend, before a higher-paying alternative finishes 2007.
"We are trying really hard to put together a financial package," he told the newspaper 'Welt'.
Winkelhock, 27, added: "I hope to know more in the next couple of days."
Part-time Ferrari tester Marc Gene is another possibility, as is his Spanish compatriot Adrian Valles, who occasionally tests for Spyker.
Italian website f1grandprix.it said yet another Spaniard, Roldan Rodriguez, is similarly in the frame, after his boss at the Minardi Piquet Sports GP2 boss, Giovanni Minardi, confirmed contact with Spyker.
