Raikkonen unhurt in high speed Monza crash

Sep.8 (GMM) Kimi Raikkonen emerged unhurt from a heavy shunt during Saturday practice at Monza.

The Finn lost control of his Ferrari at the Ascari chicane and impacted the tyre barriers at high speed, following what appeared to be a failure on the single seater's right front corner.

The incident brought out the red flags after 25 minutes of the final 60-minute practice session preceding qualifying for the Italian grand prix.

Raikkonen emerged unaided from the wreckage and was given a lift back to the pits by the medical car.

If his engine was damaged in the impact and needs to be replaced before qualifying, he will be penalised ten grid places.
