Sep.20 (GMM) The highest ranking Spanish motor racing official has added credence to rumours that another countryman is set to join the formula one grid in 2008.

It was reported earlier this week that 22-year-old GP2 driver Roldan Rodriguez, apparently with $15m in sponsor backing in tow, would shortly be unveiled as a Spyker racer for next year.

In an interview with the newspaper Diario As, Carlos Gracia - the Spanish motor racing federation president, and an FIA vice-president - confirmed: "Roldan Rodriguez will surely be announced as a driver for Spyker.

"The negotiations are going very well indeed, and it will be good news for Spanish motor sport."
