Webber did not make complaint about Hamilton
Sebastian Vettel's Toro Rosso STR2 crashes into Mark Webber's Red Bull RB3 during a safety car session at the 2007 Japanese Grand Prix.
SHANGHAI, Oct 5, 2007 (AFP) - Mark Webber has issued a statement clarifying that he did not make a complaint to Formula One race stewards over Lewis Hamilton´s controversial driving in last weekend´s Japanese Grand Prix.
McLaren driver Hamilton, currently leading the championship by 12 points, is under investigation for making several erratic moves while following the safety car in driving rain.
On Thursday, Webber pointed to Hamilton´s antics to explain his race-ending crash with Sebastian Vettel at Fuji Speedway. Franz Tost, boss of Vettel´s Scuderia Toro Rosso team, admitted that he had alerted the race stewards to video evidence of the rookie Briton´s culpability.
While Hamilton waits to see if he will be punished, Webber has moved to distance himself from the disciplinary process.
"Away from today´s events, I would just like to make it clear that, although I criticised Hamilton´s driving in yesterday´s FIA Press Conference, at no time have I made any official complaint about anyone´s driving following Sunday´s Japanese Grand Prix," his statement read.
