Massa extends with Ferrari through 2010

Oct.16 (GMM) Felipe Massa will stay with the Maranello based team until at least the end of 2010, Ferrari announced in a statement on Tuesday.

Confirmation of the 26-year-old Brazilian's new agreement ends speculation that Fernando Alonso is set to switch to the Italian outfit, as Kimi Raikkonen began a long term tenure with the team at the beginning of 2007.

It had also been rumoured recently that Massa, the only current Ferrari or McLaren driver who does not have a chance of winning the championship this weekend, might join the Toyota team in the near future.

Massa signed his first Ferrari contract ahead of 2001, before he made his formula one debut with Ferrari-powered Sauber in 2002.

He has since completed 34 grands prix, winning five times for Ferrari, earning eight pole positions and finishing on the podium sixteen times.
