Jul.27 (GMM) Furious Ferrari chiefs on Friday indicated that they may appeal the FIA's decision not to penalise McLaren for spying.

"We are reflecting on what to do after the incomprehensible and grave decision made in Paris," team principal Jean Todt told the Italian news agency ANSA.

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo echoed Todt's comments, after the World Motor Sport Council found McLaren guilty but only threatened championship expulsion if more evidence comes to light.

He is quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I want to say to the fans from all over the world who have been contacting Ferrari, offended by the decision taken in Paris yesterday, that they should remain calm because this story will not end here."

Renault's Flavio Briatore said he had already spoken to a "very bitter" Todt on the phone and said Ferrari's anger was justified.

Also baying for blood on Friday was the Italian press, with Corriere della Sera for example accusing the FIA judges of abandoning "correctness, values and ethics".

"It is incredibly difficult to accept such a judgement," it wrote.

Il Messaggero added: "Financial considerations and TV rights, doping (in cycling): is this the world of sport that we want to show our young ones?

"Sport should be about respect for the rules, the opponent and for sport itself. Is this what we have now?"
