Aug.23 (GMM) Toyota on Thursday confirmed that a fire broke out at its formula one factory in Cologne earlier this week.

A spokesman for the Japanese marque said the incident occurred in Germany on Wednesday morning following an engine failure and oil spillage on a test stand.

"Not only no one was injured but there was very little damage to report," the team said.

Toyota added that although the local fire brigade was summoned, the factory's own systems and staff brought the blaze under control.
