Honda slower than previous Honda?

Last season (2006) Honda finished 4th in the Constructor Championship putting their Japanese rivals, Toyota and even Williams behind them. This season it seems like that they are not doing very well. The first two races of this season they finished behind 10th place. But this doesn't bother the staff and the drivers very much as they are hoping to improve there performance in the near future.

Engineering Director, Jacky Eeckelaert appreciated the results obtained in the Malaysian GP, saying on Honda's official website that: "Both cars were reliable through the whole race, it's always a tough race here, and we finished with no mechanical problems. Rubens drove a very strong race, considering the fact that he started from the pitlane, making up an impressive 11 places. Due to a first lap incident, Jenson had some damage to his car, but with some adjustment at the final stop, he was able to come back and finish less than a second behind his team-mate. Both Jenson and Rubens drive exceptionally well and achieved the maximum possible with the car."

It's still strange to see that the Honda of last year (RA106), Super Aguri's "SA06" car for the 2007 season, is equal to the Honda of this year (RA107).

Anyway their performances will probably get better when we start at the European season, because there isn't time for testing and the team must prepare for the Bahrain race that takes place this weekend at Sakhir.
